A message from the INCF Japan Node

We would like to offer our deepest condolences and pray for the loss of people by the devastating earthquake and tsunami that occurred in north east part of Japan (Tohoku) on March 11, and would like to extend our heartfelt sympathy to everyone who has suffered from it. We hope that they will restore their lives and recover from this tragedy as early as possible.

The area affected by the earthquake and tsunami is quite large and it will take some time to get things back to normal. Moreover, the Fukushima Nuclear Power Station incident throws a shadow over people, especially who live in Tohoku and Tokyo metropolitan area. People live with uncertainty and frustration by the leakage of radioactive substances and by the planned blackouts which are carried out every day for a few hours. It is anticipated that it will take some more time before things get under control.

We Japanese are encouraged by the warm words and actions from all over the world. We are uniting to demonstrate that we will not be brought to our knees by this disaster. We are very grateful for the encouraging mails and support programs offered from INCF and each country's node. We would like to take this opportunity to thank you all for your kind and considerate words.
