Dr. Kennedy has extensive experience with the development of neuroinformatics resources (Internet Brain Volumetric Database, Internet Brain Segmentation Repository, Internet Analysis Tools Registry), is co-PI of the morphometry Biomedical Informatics Research Network (mBIRN), has been a Human Brain Project grant recipient since 1996, and is a founding editor of the journal Neuroinformatics. His career has seen participation in the advent of MRI-based morphometric analysis (1989), functional MRI (1991), and diffusion tensor pathway analysis (1998). Dr. Kennedy was co-founder of the Center for Morphometric Analysis at Massachusetts General Hospital and his background includes the development of image analysis software and techniques. He is the community liaison for the Neuroimaging Informatics Tools and Resources Clearinghouse (NITRC), a NIH-sponsored resource for comprehensive information about neuroimaging resources.
