Research description

Arno Klein is the Principal Investigator of the NIMH R01 grant (MH084029-02) that is funding the Mindboggle project for automated anatomical labeling, feature extraction, and morphometric analysis of human brain MRI data, and is the organizer of BrainCOLOR

Arno is excited about brain imaging and the 3-D display of complex information. He has conducted research in 3-D display holography from a high school basement lab to MIT's Media Lab, tissue optics at Caltech, and automated anatomical brain labeling at Cornell. Before coming to Columbia to continue with the brain labeling research, he did information visualization work at the Parsons Institute for Information Mapping, sponsored by the Mellon Foundation. Side projects under active development include comprehensive photodocumentation of the Ellora cave temples of India, taxonomic classification of information visualizationtext parsing and analytics, and time-lapse photography.
