Biomag 2012 Analysis Competition

Results will be presented at the Biomag 2012 Conference in Paris, August 26-30
The Biomag 2012 analysis competition aims to promote the development and application of new multivariate analysis techniques for decoding of brain activity, elucidate pros and cons of the different techniques, and to attract signal-processing experts from outside the MEG (magnetoencephalography) field.

The deadline for submitting results is Aug 17, 2012.

The submission should contain:

  • A file with the labels of the test trials (see below)
  • A PPT/PDF presentation shortly outlining the approach, the key findings + experiences  and the future perspectives.

The winners will be asked to present their findings at the Biomag2012 meeting. There will be two prizes (350 Euro per prize); one for each data set.

Datasets

Dataset 1: Decoding word and category specific representations
Divided into 80% labeled data, 20% test data
From the paper: Chan AM, Halgren E, Marinkovic K, Cash SS.(2011) Decoding word and category-specific spatiotemporal representations from MEG and EEG. NeuroImage 54(4):3028-39.

Dataset 2: Decoding long-term memory representations
Training and test data combined
From the report: Alexander Backus, Ole Jensen , Esther Meeuwissen, Marcel van Gerven and Serge Dumoulin (2011) Investigating the temporal dynamics of long-term memory representation retrieval using multivariate pattern analyses on magnetoencephalography data.

Please see the competition webpage for more information and to download datasets and paper/reports in pdf format.
