    • September 2011: 4th INCF Neuroinformatics Congress in Boston, USA. 275 attendees represented 30 countries.
    • June 2011: INCF joins IBRO, the International Brain Research Organization.
    • May 2011: INCF launches its new, redesigned website.
    • March 2011: INCF is accepted as mentoring organization for Google Summer of Code 2011.
    • February 2011: INCF Digital Atlasing Program is highlighted in a perspective article in the journal PLoS Computational Biology
2010

  • November-December 2010: The INCF launches its YouTube channel, where videos from the INCF Congresses and other events can be found.
  • October 2010: The Governing Board appointed Dr. Sean Hill, Lausanne, Switzerland, as the new Executive Director of INCF. He will assume the position starting January 2011.
  • August-September 2010: 3rd INCF Neuroinformatics Congress in Kobe, Japan. Image Competition winners are announced, and INCF debuts its Twitter feed.
  • July 2010: South Korea joins INCF and brings the number of member countries to 16.
  • May 2010: Launch of the INCF Image Competition at the annual ISMRM meeting, in Stockholm, Sweden
  • March 2010: INCF publishes new Strategic Plan for 2011-2015
  • January 2010: 1st Oversight Committee meeting of the Program on Meta-Data Standards, in Stockholm, Sweden
2009

  • December 2009: 1st Topical Workshop on the Role of Neuroinformatics in Genetic Animal Models for Brain Disease, in Stockholm, Sweden
  • November 2009: India joins INCF and hosts the INCF Multi-scale Modeling Meeting India (IMMMI) in Bangalore, India
  • September 2009: Release of Digital Atlasing Task Force Report and Waxholm Space atlas data
  • September 2009: 2nd INCF Neuroinformatics Congress in Pilsen, Czech Republic
  • May 2009: First external review of INCF; Panel concludes "...the INCF has made remarkable progress, exhibited an exciting vision, and recommends that continued support of this enterprise for the next five years."
  • April 2009: INCF Software Center enters new collaboration with NITRC
  • March 2009: Release of MUSIC 1.0
  • February 2009: INCF receives continued funding from the Swedish Foundation for Strategic Research (SSF) 
  • January 2009: Appointment of Prof. Mark Ellisman, UCSD, as 2nd INCF Executive Director

  • December 2008: 1st Oversight Committee meeting for the Multi-Scale Modeling Program
  • November 2008: Launch of the INCF Neuroinformatics Portal
  • September 2008: 1st INCF Neuroinformatics Congress: Databasing and Modeling the Brain, Stockholm, Sweden
  • September 2008: 1st INCF Workshop on Neuroanatomical Nomenclature and Taxonomy. Building on the report and further analyses, the INCF launches its 3rd Program, on Ontologies of Neural Structures (PONS).
  • July 2008: Initiation of INCF Newsletter
  • July 2008: Launch of INCF Software Center at the FENS conference in Geneva, Switzerland
  • July 2008: Publication of INCF Strategy Overview 2008–2010

  • November 2007: Launch of Neuroscience Peer-Review Consortium (NPRC) website and services
  • October 2007: Launch of 1st INCF Program: Large-Scale Modeling
  • October 2007: INCF Secretariat fully staffed
  • February 2007: Inauguration of INCF Secretariat at Karolinska Institutet
2006

  • December 2006: First INCF Topical Workshop; report with recommendations for actions published in Nature Precedings
  • October 2006: First international INCF exhibit with neuroinformatics demonstrations at the Society for Neuroscience Annual Meeting, Atlanta, USA
  • July 2006: Launch of INCF website at www.incf.org
  • April 2006: Appointment of Prof. Jan Bjaalie, Oslo University, as 1st INCF Executive Director
2005

  • November 2005: Decision to host the INCF Secretariat in Stockholm; selection of Karolinska Institutet and the Royal Institute of Technology to provide  infrastructural support
  • August 2005: Official establishment of INCF: Prof. Sten Grillner is elected Chairman of the Governing Board; Prof. Shun-ichi Amari (Japan) and Dr. Bret Peterson (USA) are elected Vice Chairs
